By God's Grace ~ Through God's Word ~ For God's Glory!
Jonathan Edwards (1703-1758) was born and raised in New England and began his ministry in Northampton, Massachusetts. He is described as “one of the few truly great theologians of the English-speaking world, an intellectual and spiritual giant.” It is said that during his days “New England had drifted from the Puritanism of its founders. Resisting the current trend, Edwards preached the whole counsel of God, and God plainly honored his testimony.” After serving as pastor for over twenty years in the Northampton church he was voted out of his pastorate by the congregation due to his calling for a genuine profession of faith amongst the people. He then went to the wilderness of the Northeast and did mission work amongst the native Indians. He later became President of Princeton College but died of fever only two months after taking the position.
