By God's Grace ~ Through God's Word ~ For God's Glory!
John Bunyan (1628-1688), a Nonconformist pastor, preacher and author from Bedford, England, received very little formal education and at an early age worked in the trade of his father, who was a tinker. After his conversion in his twenties, Bunyan began to pastor a church, preach, and write. In 1660, after the restoration of Charles II, the Nonconformists were subjected to severe persecution. Bunyan refused to give up his biblical preaching and as a result was arrested and placed in the Bedford Jail, where he remained for nearly twelve years.
