- Holding on
to the One greater than I
-
- I no longer
have my wife, my love
- The one who
was given me, from God above.
- We were as
one, so close, so true
- God brought
us together and we said ‘I do.’
-
- She was my
counselor, my confidant, my friend
- She stuck
with me through thick and thin.
- She did more
for me than I ever did for her
- Her love was
constant, unchanging, and quite secure.
-
- She loved me
even when I was hard to love
- When I’d ask
her why she would say ‘because.’
- Because you
are the one God gave to me
- To love me,
protect me and hold me closely.
-
- She was my
wife, I was her man
- Together we
walked hand in hand.
- But now she’s
not with me, I walk all alone
- For the Lord
who gave her has now taken her home.
-
- The road I
walk is now quite lonely
- No human to
hold, to talk to who knows me.
- But one thing
I know that I must do
- Hold on to
the One who is faithful and true.
-
- I must hold
on to the One who is greater than I
- Christ Jesus
my Lord for my sins He died.
- He died to
redeem me and with Him I’ll be
- Where my wife
is right now so happy and free.
-
- He alone will
help me, to walk this road I tread
- So now there
is nothing that I need to dread.
- For though I
walk alone with no human friend
- He is always
with me and His love will never end
