A Prayer by a Sinner Saved by Grace

 Seek the Lord while He may be found;

Call upon Him while He is near.

Let the wicked forsake his way,

And the unrighteous man his thoughts;

And let him return to the Lord,

And He will have compassion on him;

And to our God, For He will abundantly pardon.

Isaiah 55:6, 7

Father God, help me to live worthily of Your Name.

Create in me a greater hunger for righteousness and a greater hatred for sin;

A greater fear for You and a greater disdain for the world.

Lord, deliver me from myself;

From all my fleshly lusts and wills.

Why You have not forsaken me I do not know,

For I do not deserve Your mercy, kindness, and forgiveness.

O for the day when I will be freed forever from this earthly vessel.

Until then, help me to walk in the grace that You so abundantly provide.

For You name’s sake and for Your glory

Do not let me sin against You.

Lord, You have been so patient with me.

You have suffered long over me and yet You continue to bless me.

I am not worthy!

Too often I have forsaken You.

Too often I have received Your grace in vain.

Too often, Lord, I have rejected You and accepted the desires of the flesh and the world.

Too often I have walked in my own strength and not in You.

I do not deserve to be Your child.

And yet Lord You continue to love me, to call me, to bless me with Your presence.

Why You do so, I do not understand.

But, Father, I do thank You.

Thank You Father for choosing me as an object of Your affection.

Thank You for calling me and setting me apart for Your will to be done.

Thank You Lord Jesus for satisfying the Father’s holiness and justice through Your life and death. For allowing, through Your atonement, for the Father’s love to flow to me.

Thank You for taking my sin upon Yourself at Calvary.

Thank You for seeking me out and redeeming me. For delivering me from the slave-market of sin where I laid bound by my flesh, the world, and the devil.

Thank You for freeing me and bestowing upon me Your righteousness.

Thank You for giving me life.

Thank You Holy Spirit for accomplishing the Father’s will in me by regenerating me and renewing me.

Thank You for convicting me of my sin and showing me my wicked condition and hopelessness apart from Christ.

Thank You for leading me and teaching me truth.

Lord God, thank You for pouring out Your grace upon me and for putting faith in me.

Thank You for making me Yours.

It was for Your sovereign pleasure and though I will never be worthy may I live worthily of Your calling.
